          Indian Prayer  :

 Prayer to the Great Spirit

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds.
And whose breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me! I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes.
Ever hold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made.
My ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand.
The things you might teach me.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden.
In every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother.
But to fight my greatest enemy, myself.
Make me always ready to come to you.
With clear hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset.
My spirit may come to you without shame.

 

 

 

 

위대한 신에게 바치는 기도  

 

오, 신이시여,

저 바람결에 그 목소리 들을 수 있고

그 숨결로 온세상에 생명을 불어 넣어 주는 위대하신 신이시여,

이 작고 나약한 저의 기도를 들어 주소서.

저는 당신의 힘과 지혜가 필요합니다.

저로 하여금 아름다운 길만 걸어 가도록 도와 주시고,

제 눈은 항상 저 붉은 노을빛을  담게 해주시고

제 손은 당신의 뜻을 받들게 하여 주시옵소서.

저의 귀가 당신의 목소리를 잘 듣게 해주시고

저를 지혜롭게 해주시어

당신이 가르치고자 하시는 모든 것을 알아 듣게 해주소서.

당신께서 온갖 나무와 바위들 속에 숨겨 놓으신

모든 가르침들을 배우게 해주소서.

힘을 원하오나,저의 형제들보다 더 강하기를 원치는 않습니다..

 어떤 적보다도 더 두려운 저 자신에 맞서 싸울 수 있는 힘을 바라옵니다.

신이시여, 맑은 손과 세상을 똑바로 보는 눈으로

언제든지, 당신께 달려 갈 수 있는 준비가 되게 해주시어

저 노을빛이 사라지듯,  ,제 생명이 다할 때

제 영혼이 부끄러움 없이 당신에게로 갈 수 있게 하여 주시옵소서.
